Patricia Lacoss and Jason Arnold
July 07, 2001

About Patricia
I'm origionally from Connecticut. I now live in St. Louis, MO. I moved here in 1996 to do a year long ministry training/internship with a church. At the end of that year I choose to stay here and work with an inner-city church that was just starting. That has been my primary work since then with jobs teaching Adult Basic Education, or music to help pay the bills. I did spend most of 1999 living in Stamford, CT and worked with a church there, but my work here called me back. I have been back here since Feb. 2000.
I currently teach private voice lessons 2 days a week at a private music school, vocal music and recorder one day a week at a Catholic School, music two days a week at a pre-school and bible studies two evenings a week.
About Jason
Originally hailing from Nebraska, I found my way to St. Louis in the winter of '96 after graduating from Harding University. Lured here by a job out of college, I've since worked at three different companies generally involved in Unix systems activities of various sorts. I'm currently working in the Unix Architecture group at A. G. Edwards.
HOW WE MET
We met at a christian singles retreat. Neither of us had very high expectations for the weekend. On Friday night, after many people had gone to bed, I was talking to a friend about my work with the inner-city church. Apparently Jason had been looking for an opportunity to speak to me and he took it. He had been sitting halfway across the room playing cards with some women. He jumped up and came over and said something like, "You go to City church? My small group has been planing to come and visit." We talked for about an hour and I discovered that he was intellegent and insightful. We hung out together for most of the rest of the weekend. I left there convinced that I wasn't interested in dating him, but he sent me at least 1 e-mail every day and very quickly I changed my mind. The rest they say in history.
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
December 28, 2000
HOW IT HAPPENED
We were in Connecticut and had already planned to sneak away that evening to go to one of my favorite places (It is especially beautiful by moonlight) but, in the early afternoon everyone was either gone or taking a nap so we decided to seize the moment and take off ourselves. We went to Masnfield Hollow State Park where the water comes out of the Dam it makes a waterfall of sorts. It is very beautiful and the ice arround the edges made it even more so. We stood on a large rock that jutted out into the water and Jason took a piece of paper out of his pocket. He had written a poem for the moment. It was very beautiful. When I said yes he took out my ring and I put it on. Then I took out his ring and asked him to recipricate. He also said yes (phew!) We then went out to lunch to celebrate at the Bidwell Tavern. Our waitress was so impressed by our obvuous affection for each other that she mentioned it, so we told her that we had just gotten engaged. She wished us well and said that we looked terrific together.
